I received an invite to try the new sign-in page for Office 365, which will be released in March.
The new page will automatically adapt to the screen resolution of the device you are using. So no more pinch-zooming on your smartphone to log into the portal or community.office365.com.
I hope the same importance will be assigned to developing the portal and admin pages to adapt to the screen resolution of the device.
Hi, Malcolm;
I like your blog- keep up the good work! I got that same invitation yesterday and wondered if the “opt-in” was for the entire organization that I support, or just me. Didn’t want to think I was trying it only for myselft and mistakenly turning it on for everyone.
Thanks!
Hi Alan.
Thank you for your feedback on the blog. The opt-in appears to use cookies or a file deposited in your temporary files. That’s how the per device testing is achieved. I ran the same opt-in option on my Windows phone, pictured in the blog. I then deleted my history etc and received the current production login page instead of the new one.
So it’s a low risk trial of the new login page. I’m looking forward to the opt-in message that will be sent before our tenant is upgraded to all the Office 2013 services.
Though here in New Zealand, our Asia Pacific datacentre means we will be last in line as the rollout works its way around the globe. Till then, we’ll have to keep using our 2013 preview tenant to get familiar with all the “new toys and tools.”
